How it works

Every animal — and portrait — is unique. I’ll work with you each step of the way to figure out the best options for your painting. Here’s what the process will look like:

  • Reach out

To get started, you’ll fill out this contact form with details about your project (it’s very okay if you don’t have everything decided yet). I’ll get back to you within a week to confirm whether I can take on your project, along with the estimated timeline. Over email, I’ll confirm details about the painting size and the project budget.

At this stage, I’ll send an invoice requesting a deposit of half of the total cost in order to reserve your spot on my schedule.

  • Reference photos

Next, I’ll ask you to send me a selection of photos of your portrait subject. The more the better, so I can select a reference that will translate best into a painting (I’ll also send you some tips for selecting a good reference). If you have a specific photo you would like me to use, that’s great, too!

Tip: Look for photos where your subject is in natural light and their face and body are visible and in focus. Don’t worry about the background of the photo, as long as the subject is clear and well lit.

  • The painting

Once the portrait is complete, I’ll send you an email update with a photo of the final painting. If everything looks good, I’ll send you a final invoice. Once paid, I’ll ship your painting and share tracking information. Keep in mind that a painting will need about two weeks to dry before varnishing and shipping.

After that, I hope you’ll keep in touch! I love to see framed paintings hanging in their new home, and of course always love to see the animal subjects with their portraits.
